Precisely one year after a contract agreement was signed by Ülemiste Center O&Ü and NCC Ehitus AS and the occupancy permit for the building was acquired on the 26th of March 2003, the Ülemiste shopping centre was opened for visitors on the 1st of April 2004. The centre at the corner of Tartu Road and Suur-Sõjamäe Street has over 48 000 square metres of floor space which facilitates 160 shops, service offices and dining places, the biggest of which is the RIMI Ülemiste Superstore. The building designed by architects Einar Aakerøy (Arkitektkontoret Aakerøy, Moe & Bowe) and Pia Tasa (EA Reng).
